Protestantism, alongside Catholicism, is one of the main branches of Christianity. It consists of religious communities that emerged as a result of the reformation movements initiated by Martin Luther.
We believe that the Holy Scripture is the final authority in faith. In the Catholic Church, there is the so-called Tradition. The Holy Scripture and Tradition interpret each other.
For us, a church is a community of believers, and therefore a building is only functional for us. As a result, most Protestant churches do not have paintings, stained glass windows, and other decorative elements typical of the Catholic Church.
Sometimes, a church does not have its own building at all and meets in sports halls, hotels, or in the case of smaller groups - in homes.
We recognize two as sacraments: baptism and communion. We believe that both were instituted directly by Jesus. They are visible manifestations of God's grace and covenant with God in Jesus.
We baptize people who have previously made a conscious decision to believe in Jesus. We entrust children to God's care during the blessing ceremony. Then the parents and the child go out in front of the Church and everyone prays together for the child so that it can know God, for the parents so that God supports them in raising the child leading it to Him, and for God to use people in the Church to help the family. This is not the moment when the child formally becomes part of the Church, it is simply to show support for the family.
We have communion every Sunday - bread or matzo and wine or juice, waiting on a specially prepared table, which is approached by everyone who has made the decision to surrender their life to Christ in accordance with what the Bible says. We treat communion in a symbolic way, it is for us a memorial of the Lord's Supper.
We do not have confession, we confess our sins to God and to people we have wronged in some way.
A Pastor is involved in teaching and leads the congregation with the Leadership Team. Yes, he can have a wife.
